Quick Hit:

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem called “South Park” creators “lazy” and “petty” Thursday after the show mocked her looks, saying they attack women’s appearance because they can’t fault her job performance.

Key Details:

  • Noem told Glenn Beck she hasn’t watched the latest episode, which depicts her as a glammed-up ICE officer who kills puppies, arrests Hispanic individuals, and obsesses over Botox. She said she was busy “going over budget numbers and stuff.”
  • “It never ends, but it’s so lazy to constantly make fun of women for how they look,” Noem said, adding that such attacks “always” come from “liberals and extremists.”
  • The White House also recently dismissed “South Park” as “irrelevant” after recent episodes mocked President Trump and his administration.

Diving Deeper:

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem is pushing back after “South Park” took aim at her appearance in a recent episode. During an interview Thursday with Glenn Beck, Noem blasted the long-running animated series for what she described as “lazy” and “petty” humor.

“It never ends, but it’s so lazy to constantly make fun of women for how they look,” Noem told Beck. “It’s always the liberals and the extremists who do that. If they wanted to criticize my job, go ahead and do that, but clearly they can’t, they just pick something petty like that.”

The episode in question depicted Noem as a heavily made-up ICE agent who is obsessed with Botox, kills puppies, and arrests anyone who is Hispanic. Noem said she didn’t watch the show, claiming she was tied up “going over budget numbers and stuff.”

Her criticism comes as the White House has also taken swipes at “South Park,” calling it “irrelevant” and accusing its creators of seeking attention after a string of episodes lampooned President Trump and his administration.

The day before the Noem episode aired, Homeland Security used an image from “South Park” to promote an ICE recruitment drive. “We want to thank ‘South Park’ for drawing attention to ICE law enforcement recruitment: We are calling on patriotic Americans to help us remove murderers, gang members, pedophiles, and other violent criminals from our country,” the agency said in a statement.

The department also highlighted benefits for new ICE recruits, including a signing bonus of up to $50,000, student loan forgiveness, and retirement benefits.
